Do you ever find it difficult to put into words…words that capture the event…that do justice to every sensory, audible and emotion felt? Can you convey, really convey what happened? Can you describe the experience as whole and not just parts of the whole? Can you adequately describe what the mind imprinted, and what now has become a mere block of time with memory images?
Then the words come. Not from inside you but from inside somewhere, someone else. The words are…perfect.
Lyrics to ONE DAY LIKE THIS* by Elbow
Throw those curtains wide
One day like this a year would see me right
Throw those curtains wide
One day like this a year would see me right for life
One day back from England found me sitting in the hair salon chair telling the stylist about the holiday just taken with good friends, meeting new friends, food eaten, places seen. After all was said and done, both story and hair trim, the stylist turned and asked, “Sounds as if you should still be in England…when are you moving back?”
Maybe.
Maybe one day just like this…

Many thanks to James who not only delivered a print of his I purchased to our Seaford Hill House Bed & Breakfast, but spent the entire next day with us. We climbed over stiles, and walked through sheep pastures. James then took us to OUR BENCH, had a photo taking marathon, and then showed us his beautiful view of the Seven Sisters white chalk cliffs in Seaford. Thank you, J. Always, R. The link to his professional website is HERE.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, Raye. Thanks a lot for sharing!
Have a great weekend.
Greetings from Cambridge

Raye, thank you for stopping by my place. I love your blog, a wonderful mix of sketches, photos, and ideas. I drove about in southern England with a friend many years ago to visit gardens; one of the best weeks of my life. Your photos brought back some lovely memories.

Have been terribly busy with work, sad. So have not been blogging much and am missing the zen life much. Hope to return soon : )

Thinking the same, Monica, the zen and where to find [even] on an ordinary day. I think it remains within us no matter where we are or what we do. For me, at this moment, it has come to weeding out the un-necessary movements that keep me tripping over the necessary. The necessary…the passion…where the deep inside of us lives…the zen…the necessary. Raye

Are you originally from England? It seems to me I remember that about you, but I’m not sure. Regardless, sounds like a wonderful trip!

No Carrie…not originally from England. Lived there for a number of years and made the best of friends with two lovely women, their husbands and families. When I come “home” we plan a week of travel together. The visit to Seaford to see the Seven Sisters cliffs was the first time we had all been together in one place…at one time! Resulting in masses of photos taken on James and my OUR BENCH. Magic happened…

I’m a sucker for boats and water, and the picture of the boats in the canal behind the buildings is beautiful. What a great collection of pics, and certainly looks like you had a wonderful time.
We travelled to Scotland and Ireland a few years back, and it was a magical place to visit. Thanks for the wonderful reminders.

Reminders….we all need reminders of “those days” that were pure joy. May we both walk with springs to our steps today, Barney….and smiles. At the very least…it will keep friends guessing about what we’ve been up to……!! Thank you so much for dropping in…..

Nonono, six days a week like that, followed by one to smile at the memoires and plan the next adventure. And happiness for you on all of them.
Looks like a great trip, and your sketches are more beautiful than the pictures.
(Your bench looks comfy too.)

Raye, of all the photos, I think I like the last one best. The two are looking into the future and thinking “one day like this…..” I have been to London twice and Ireland once with my family – the pictures of which can be found on our family picture wall representing our favorite vacation. Thanks for the memories. BTG

Eighteen too-short days: one week with Penny&Stephen, and the rest with Keith&Rosie. Besides meeting and spending time with James, friend and photographer, (E.
