IT’S A TOSS UP…

wc-suisse-41IT’S A TOSS UP NO IT’S A COW

Both of my kids have a picture of a framed cow  that graces  a wall in each of their respective homes.   They were  born on a family dairy farm and know the value of hard work. They also know the value of working together and of being of service to others.  On the back of each picture I have written the sentence:  Remember your roots. Words, I hoped, that would elicit a small reminder of holding on to all life-learned lessons whether positive or negative, embracing change and certainly accepting the challenges of the future.

Today might be an appropriate time to add the words of Sophie Tucker, US singer and vaudeville star:

“Keep breathing.”

  1. I love your Post. And the words “Remember Your Roots”.
Many people forget or pretend not to remember who they were and form where they came. Its so nice to see a post like this, asking your kids to remember the Cow.

      1. In the fine art Critiquing, one learns not to just look but also to listen for whispers coming from the art being viewed. It would appear am not very good whispering. Your far better than I.

    1. Thank you Rebecca. Knowing we (here on this side) are not alone because we have friends and family all over the world (you and other besties on that side and beyond)…makes me believe we truly are in this together. All of us. Together. On another note: My watercolour painting neighbour and I find the challenges with your painting mate…inspirational. More, please…

      1. You are right – we are all in this together…and the art too! I’m so glad you’re getting positive vibes from our challenges – we’re lining up more, but work commitments mean they’re probably going to have to wait for February. Still, we’ll be back! 🙂

    1. #41…or Grandma, is what we called her. My Swiss Father-in-Law bought her for us…our first Brown Swiss for our milking herd. She was special! Thank you for your comment, Patsy. I know. I know. This election affects all of us…to what extent is yet to be seen and felt.

  2. “Remember your roots…” – that is a wonderful reminder, one that will be even-more important as they embrace the challenges of the future… from afar, i do worry about our country’s future… a large percentage of what you all see/witness is buffered before the news reaches here – and a lot of it never reaches here… i cannot imagine what it must be like right now – people here are in shock.. we must all remember our roots.

    1. L. Went grocery marketing yesterday….the usual hustle and bustle of early morning store activity….gone. Silent. Slow motion. Dazed. Protests last night in Portland’s city centre. Today…hugs being given out in same location. Nice to hear from you and hope all is well. R.

      1. I walked through the quiet town (almost alway quiet/Mayberry) and sat in the park for half an hour and just sort of absorbed… the entire planet truly seems to be reacting via a somber low mood, something I feel but do not see… My heart hurts for those things sensed, an unknown, like waiting on a shoe to drop… Let’s hope it’s a feather slipper and that we’re all surprised in a good way.

        Yeah, and I’m 40 again!

    1. Sophie Tucker….Rocker Queen who continues to dish good advice. I’m finding it difficult to follow, however. Keep thinking four years of tomorrows will meld in tolerable…less fearful even.
Time will tell. Soaking up inspiration from your musings, both the personal and otherwise. Thank you for that.

    1. Oh, aFa…you never, ever cease to amaze me with your ability to seek and find the perfect salve and smile begetting (is that a word?) videos! We didn’t have “dancing” cows on our dairy farm…but we did have bell ringers! All our Brown Swiss (#41 above was one) wore the typical thick leather collars with huge brass bells around their necks…in the summer when the herd was put out to pasture. Music. Music. Music. You would have loved it!!

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving your comment. I agree, much is needed. I’m confident that all of us united will know exactly what it is…and work hard to attain to reach this new common goal. Peace within would be a good beginning…

      1. This morning’s epiphany: He’s gonna reduce our tax bills, right? (yeah) I will triple any tax reductions and send those funds directly to my favorite and now desperate causes.
